Spring Flowers
When the Jackson air starts to become crisp and leaves take on their golden hues, Holly and her team start their preparations for the next summer. This includes planting bulbs like tulips, daffodils, allium, jonquils and muscari, most of which bloom from the end of May through mid-July. Fall planting also requires that the Flower Girl Gardening team prepare their client’s gardens for the winter by adding compost and soil pep or mulch. This advance planning will insure your garden’s soil is prime for spring planting.

Planters
Flower Girl Gardening can plant more than gardens. Holly and her team can also create beautiful potted flower arrangements and hanging planters for decks, porches and yards. She has even provided this as a decorative service for weddings. These potted arrangements can include annuals and perennials. In her efforts to avoid waste and according to client desires, Holly can re-plant the potted perennials in the ground in the fall to prepare for the next summer.

Wildflower Gardens
To create vibrant wildflower beds for her clients, Holly and her team begin by prepping the area to be planted. This entails clearing all the grass and weeds and creating a raised mound that is composed of topsoil and compost. To insure that each bed has flowers blooming throughout the season, Flower Girl Gardeners rake a variety of native flower and annual seeds into the soil in the fall or the spring. Holly’s team will re-seed each wildflower bed for three years to create beds full of elegant blooms. After three years, the flowers can stand alone and re-seed themselves each fall. These wildflower beds bloom from July through October and include rich hues: blues and purples early on, reds and pinks in August, and yellows and oranges in the fall.

Garden Design
With every new Flower Girl Gardening client, Holly begins with a consultation to explore what kind of garden to plant, what colors her clients like best and what flowers they prefer. She also uses that first meeting to evaluate the existing garden, the soil, the water availability, the lighting and to conduct an overall environmental assessment. At this time Holly and her clients decide on a budget. Next Holly chooses the appropriate plants, digs the soil, removes or transplants existing plants, and installs the new blooms. Holly and her team will install irrigation as needed. Flower Girl Gardening uses compost in all its gardens because it is a natural fertilizer and sourced locally.

Fertilization and Compost
Flower Girl Gardening adds all natural compost and fertilizer to flower beds regularly and through the summer. Holly knows that given the nitrogen deficient soil in Jackson, adding more with the compost and fertilizer is always a boon to the plants she maintains. Holly uses a slow release fertilizer to insure that the roots, leaves and blooms grow properly and quickly given the short summer season.[/fourcol_three_last]

Irrigation In Jackson Hole
After completing the initial environmental assessment on each client garden, Holly is able to determine if the water levels are sufficient. If they are not, Flower Girl Gardening will make sure your garden gets all the moisture it needs. Holly and her team will install reliable sprinklers where needed and state of the art drip systems. For flower pots, a smaller drip system will insure that these flowers also receive water they need. This is an especially important element of her maintenance plan for clients who are not in Jackson throughout the entire summer season.
- Drip-line irrigation systems for gardens and planters
- Sprinkler systems
